Emily has always had a natural love for painting and drawing since her college years. In fact, she enjoys most things with an artistic nature to it.
Most of her life she has been a hairdresser, and within that industry, she has learnt makeup, special effect makeup, and then alongside it, facepainting and bodypainting.
It was when her children were born ( one in 2002, and the other in 2004) and she started reading them children's picture books that she fell in love with the idea of illustrating picture books. She loves the idea of being able to transport children (and adults) into an imagined world with characters that are limitless.
In 2017 and in 2019 she was awarded as one of the finalists in the NZ Storylines Gavin Bishop Award.
In 2020 she illustrated 2 books;
'Mallory Mallory, Revenge of the Tooth Fairy' written by James Norcliffe and published by Penguin Random House NZ.
'Daddy Monster ABC' written by Diane Neild and published by One Tree House NZ.
